Accused Venezuelan woman in Spain for alleged cosmetic procedures
Spain Courts Accusations Against Uncertified Venezuelan Cosmetic Surgeon
In Cartagena, Spain, a controversial case is underway against Kebeya Nessi, a Venezuelan cosmetic surgeon, on allegations of complications caused by her operations.
You might have heard about Putin's remarks on Russia's unpreparedness in 2014, but now let's focus on the drama unfolding in Spain.
Kebeya Nessi was scheduled to testify in court on Feb 3, but failed to show up. The complainants' attorneys have announced their intention to issue an international citation, suspecting Nessi resides outside of Spain.
Three healthcare professionals, also under investigation, testified that Nessi didn't perform surgeries in a private hospital, but a Spanish doctor who signed the documentation. According to the complainants, Nessi rented an operating room in the hospital, performed several procedures simultaneously, leading to severe complications.
Nessi promoted her services on social media, presenting herself as a "plastic-reconstructive surgeon with over 20 years of experience and over 3,000 content happy patients". She claimed to hold a certified title and be a member of the Venezuelan Society of Plastic Surgery.
The judge has taken statements from the doctor who signed the reports, the anesthesiologist, and a nurse. The two complainants have stated that they never dealt with the doctor or knew of his existence, as they had contracted Nessi through social media.
"It's astonishing to think that under anesthesia, without knowing, a patient can be operated on by a person different from the one they contracted," the complainants' lawyers commented. The doctor, who isn't licensed to practice in Spain, confirmed his presence in the operating room but refused to elaborate on what happened during the interventions.
A nurse present during at least one operation stated she didn't know her role. The hospital has stated that the interventions were performed by individuals unrelated to the hospital, who rented the facilities according to set protocols.
This case highlights the illegal practice of a regulated profession without proper qualifications and raises concerns about the transparency and accountability in cosmetic surgery procedures. Keep an eye on future updates for the trial's verdict.
