An Escape Route Unveiled

In collaboration with the Düsseldorf-based association "Acceptance Trust Perspective" (AVP) and the American non-profit organization "United Help Ukraine," a fresh initiative to support Chernivtsi, Ukraine's partner city, has been launched. The donations will be allocated to the "Magalski psychoneurological orphanage," the "Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of Children," and local foster families.

Speaking about the ongoing humanitarian needs in Chernivtsi, Keller expressed, "Despite our past successes, the need for support remains significant." The city, bereft of military conflict, has welcomed around 60,000 refugees, including children and young adults. Owing to the war, many children are left parentless, while others reside with foster families. In many instances, basic necessities like blankets, toothbrushes, and diapers are in short supply. Toys, laptops, and bicycles can help these children experience a life away from conflict.

To cater to these needs, AVP and "United Help Ukraine" have established Amazon wish lists detailing the requirements. Supporters can utilize these lists to purchase necessary items; donations can also be made by purchasing from other service providers or stores, then delivering them to AVP at Hansaallee 247 A or handing them over personally at the wholesale market, Hall 4, Ulmenstraße 275, on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 11 am and 7 pm.

Sergiu Aruin, AVP's Managing Director, expressed gratitude for the community's support, stating, "This alliance is strong, and we appreciate the help from all citizens." Maryna Bayduk, President of United Help Ukraine, added, "The support we offer to children and young people in Chernivtsi is crucial. Online shopping is an easily accessible method for anyone who wishes to help."

Ukraine is currently grappling with a sharp decline in humanitarian aid, with approximately 12.7 million people in urgent need of assistance. The upsurge in nutritional support, psychosocial assistance, and emotional and psychological aid are among the major needs. For those interested in contributing, consider donating to established humanitarian organizations, volunteering, supporting local initiatives, advocating for increased funding, or educating oneself and others about the situation in Ukraine.
