Sailor Arved Fuchs embarks on the "Ocean Change" voyage in the year 2025 - Arved Fuchs is en route to the 2025 Ocean Change platform

Brace yourself for another jaw-dropping adventure with Arved Fuchs, the esteemed polar explorer embarking on the latest leg of his "Ocean Change" series. His trusty sailing vessel, the "Dagmar Aaen," sets sail from Flensburg, ready to navigate through the perilous waters of our planet's oceans to tackle climate change and marine protection head-on.

Setting sail on a sun-soaked Sunday, Fuchs and his motley crew aren't just out for a leisurely sail. This expedition, spanning over ten years in the making, has a clear mission: to shine a light on the impacts of climate change and the importance of marine conservation. Fuchs is a firm believer in interdisciplinary collaboration, partnering with various scientific institutions to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the issues at hand.

This year's voyage will take them on an epic journey through the following destinations:- Eastern Baltic Sea: A fragile inland sea teeming with diverse marine life.- North Sea: A body of water notorious for its harsh conditions and tendency to sweep sailors away with its mighty currents.- Eastern Atlantic Ocean: A vast expanse of water spanning thousands of miles, where the real mysteries of the deep may be found.

The expedition's itinerary includes several notable stops along the way: Stralsund, Greifswald, Świnoujście (Poland), Klaipėda (Lithuania), Riga (Latvia), Gotland (Sweden), and the charming coastal towns of Sylt, Brittany, and Cornwall. The adventure ends in late August, assuming the weather cooperates. until they make it back to their cheerful home port of Flensburg.

But this isn't your run-of-the-mill sailing expedition. Fuchs and his crew are armed with a Cache of state-of-the-art scientific equipment, allowing them to collect valuable data even in the most remote and unfrequented areas of the ocean. "We're not just sailors; we're explorers, researchers, and activists," Fuchs was heard declaring before setting sail.

Key equipment includes:- Laboratory equipment for measuring essential ocean parameters.- Drifter buoys and Argofloaters for tracking ocean currents and conditions.- OceanPack, which continuously measures CO2 content, salinity, temperature, and phytoplankton presence in the seawater.- A CCD probe for taking deep-sea readings at four times per second.- The EyeOnWater app and camera, allowing anyone to participate in the adventure by reporting water color and contributing to marine research.

Collaboration is key for Arved Fuchs and the "Ocean Change" project. Partnering with research institutions, such as the illustrious GEOMAR research center in Kiel and Trans-Ocean e.V., they work tirelessly to share data and insights, ensuring a more comprehensive understanding of the challenges facing our oceans. Kick back and join Arved Fuchs and his team on their mission to safeguard our precious marine ecosystems - the ultimate ride of a lifetime! 🌊🌊🌊
