Authorities in Zabaikal seize large quantities of shrimp and cat food due to missing documentation
In the Zabaykalsky Krai, a report concerning the safety and quality of imported products has been made. The products in question are shrimp and cat food, specifically the 'Bukhta Izobiliya' shrimp products in 850g packages and Whiskas cat food, specifically the 'Red Fish, Shrimp in Jelly' variety in 75g packets.
These products, imported from Denmark, have entered over 120 retail outlets in Zabaykalsk without the necessary veterinary documents. This issue has led to concerns about their safety and quality, as the products were found to have been imported with fake certificates.
The Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing made the report via Telegram, and Rosselkhoznadzor has since banned the import and sale of these goods. Specialists are conducting inspections to remove the products from circulation in Zabaykalsk.
It's important to note that the affected shrimp and cat food have already entered regional stores in the Zabaykalsky Krai. While the extent of the distribution is not yet clear, efforts are being made to ensure the safety of consumers.
In a positive development, entrepreneurs in two regions of Zabaykalsk have agreed not to inflate prices on food products, aiming to prevent any potential price gouging during this time of concern.
The manufacturer of the affected products is Mars, Incorporated. The company has been contacted for comment, but has yet to respond. As more information becomes available, updates will be provided.
Consumers are advised to check their purchases carefully and to return any of the affected products to the place of purchase. If you have any concerns about the safety of a product, please contact your local health authority for guidance.
