Researchers demand transparency from Drosten concerning Corona decision-making processes - BSW seeks clarification on Coronavirus-related decisions
Let's get down to the nitty-gritty! The Alliance for Progress (BSW) in the Saxon State Parliament is pressing for answers from renowned virologist, Christian Drosten, about decisions made during the Corona crisis. Drosten, a 52-year-old professor, will face grueling questioning in the parliamentary investigation committee this Friday.
Citizens have a right to know which measures worked and which didn't, says BSW committee member Ines Biebrach. Drosten, one of the government's key advisors, is expected to provide clear-cut answers on the evidence-base of his recommendations and any misconceptions that might have arisen during the pandemic.
Biebrach added, "It's crucial that science's secure knowledge is distinguishable from any political decisions based on uncertain data." A prime example of the consequences of potentially incorrect decisions, she points out, is the impact on children and young people.
"By the end of this question-and-answer session, we should be able to determine right from wrong," said Biebrach, emphasizing the significance of Drosten's hearing in the clarification process.
The Investigation Committee was initiated by the AfD faction. Its mandate: to scrutinize the Saxon government's work in relation to the Coronavirus from 2019 to 2024. Since the pandemic struck Saxony in March 2020, approximately 17,750 people have died due to Covid-19, according to the Ministry of Social Affairs.

During Friday's hearing, experts in science, health-and-wellness, and medical-conditions are expected to clarify the evidence-base of recommendations made during the pandemic, distinguishing secure scientific knowledge from possible political decisions based on uncertain data. The Investigation Committee, initiated by the AfD faction in the State Parliament, will scrutinize the Saxon government's work in relation to the Coronavirus from 2019 to 2024, shedding light on the transparency of major decisions made in gripping situations like the Corona crisis in Dresden, where approximately 17,750 people have died due to Covid-19.
