Cava Introduces Chicken Shawarma to its Menu

Cava, the popular Mediterranean restaurant chain, has recently launched a new limited-time offering: the Chicken Shawarma. After positive market tests in Dallas and Florida, the dish has been warmly received by customers seeking more protein with a new flavor profile.

The Chicken Shawarma is a modern take on a Mediterranean classic, made by hand-stacking and spit-roasting whole, marinated chicken breasts. The chicken is seasoned with a bold, proprietary spice blend, resulting in a tender, juicy, and flavorful dish.

For those who prefer a bowl over a pita wrap, Cava offers the Garlicky Chicken Shawarma Bowl. Served over saffron basmati rice, red pepper hummus, Crazy Feta, corn, a tomato and cucumber mix, pickled onions, broccoli, arugula, skhug, and garlic dressing, this hearty bowl is priced around $15. For those who prefer the traditional pita sandwich, the Chicken Shawarma Pita includes hummus, tomato and onion, shredded romaine, DPP (Double Pickle Power), garlic dressing, lemon herb tahini, and can be requested with harissa.

Priced around $13 for other chicken and rice bowls, and $17 for a steak bowl, the Chicken Shawarma is competitively priced within the Cava menu, which boasts eight proteins, making the chicken shawarma the eighth option.

Cava is also leveraging its pita chips as a flavor innovation platform, with Cinnamon-sugar chips and honey for dipping as a future offering.

To promote the Chicken Shawarma, Cava is hosting a multi-city food truck tour, starting in New York City and continuing in Washington, D.C., Atlanta, and Dallas. The Cava food truck visited Chicago on its multi-city Foodtruck-Tour on September 17, 2021.

Employee scores are as important as consumer scores at Cava, and the Chicken Shawarma scored high for ease of production during the stagegate process. The positive response from both customers and employees indicates that the Chicken Shawarma is a successful addition to the Cava menu.

In addition to the Chicken Shawarma, Cava plans to bring back white sweet potatoes in January. The restaurant chain is always innovating and evolving to provide the best dining experience for its customers.

Stay tuned for more flavorful offerings from Cava!
