Busted Myth: Overindulging in Fruits? Not Likely! 🍎🍌🍇
Consuming excessive amounts of fruit: Potential health implications?
Let's put an end to the fruit-shaming trend on TikTok! Many may say that consuming too much fruit is harmful, but that's merely a myth. Fruits play a significant role in a balanced diet, providing essential nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants.
Clarification: Though fruits do contain sugar, this natural sugar—known as fructose—is beneficial for your health when consumed as part of a well-balanced diet. And thanks to fiber, the sugar from most fruits won't cause an immediate spike in blood sugar levels.
Balancing Act 🤵♂️🤽♀️
Diabetics should exercise caution and adhere to recommendations for fruit intake, as fructose can increase blood sugar levels. But for the overwhelming majority of us, a healthy serving of five portions (handfuls) of fruits per day is ideal.

Uncertain about portion sizes? An adult fruit portion is around one medium-sized fruit like an apple or orange, or two handfuls of berries, or a small handful of dried apricots, depending on the size of your hand.
For our little ones, the portions will be smaller, but the important thing is to aim for that weekly average. Fresh fruits are an excellent choice, but dried fruits and juice count, too!
What About Smoothies?
Incorporating fruits into a balanced diet contributes to good health-and-wellness by providing essential nutrients and antioxidants, including those found in smoothies, which are rich in nutrition. Engaging in fitness-and-exercise, combined with a diet that includes proper fruit intake, supports overall health and well-being.
