Day's Agenda for 'Tour dementia' Event: Covering Information, Encounters, and Support for Families and Victims Affected by Dementia
On September 17, 2025, the City of Bergisch Gladbach will host an action day dedicated to Dementia, in conjunction with World Alzheimer's Day. The event, organised by the Aging Specialist Office and the Regional Office for Aging, Care, and Dementia, promises a varied program from morning till evening.
The action day will kick off at the City Library, where an exhibition on the topic of dementia will be held from September 15-27. Visitors can expect interactive activities and information booths.
Meanwhile, on Market Square City Center, various actions and information booths will be available from 2:30 PM. Highlights include "The Radiance of Age" - Portrait photos from the meeting places of Caritas RheinBerg, ADFC Rhein-Berg's E-tandem for trying out, and the contact office for self-help care for caring relatives.
The day's events will also include a series of insightful lectures. Senior Physician Meike Jacobsen from the EVK Bergisch Gladbach will give a lecture titled "Dement - what now?" at the DRK Refrather Treff at 10:00 AM. Later in the day, at 12:00 PM, Claudia Freudenberger from the guardianship office of the city of Bergisch Gladbach will give a lecture on "Legal representation options in dementia - legal guardianship is good, power of attorney is better". Police Sergeant Nicole Sutschet, a traffic safety advisor of the accident prevention, will give a lecture on "Driving with dementia - assistance for relatives and interested parties" at the Volkshochschule Bergisch Gladbach from 5:30-7:00 PM.
One of the day's main attractions is the "Tour Demenz" bike tour.
