Dubai's Ruler Hamdan bin Mohammed launches the Dubai Mallathon, an initiative encouraging fitness within shopping malls.
Dubai Mallathon: Transforming Dubai's Malls into Indoor Fitness Hubs
From 1 August to 31 August, Dubai will be hosting a month-long fitness initiative known as the Dubai Mallathon. This unique event will transform nine major shopping malls across the city into indoor, air-conditioned fitness tracks, open daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM for running and walking activities.
The participating malls include Dubai Mall, Dubai Hills Mall, Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif, Dubai Marina Mall, The Springs Souk, Dubai Festival City, and Festival Plaza. Each mall will feature safe, fully equipped indoor tracks, adding up to over 10 kilometers in total length, providing residents and visitors with a comfortable exercise environment despite the summer heat.
Registration and Participation
Participation in the Dubai Mallathon is free of charge. Individuals can register online via the official website, www.dubaimallathon.ae, and receive a digital card confirming their enrollment. Registered individuals can take advantage of exclusive healthy-lifestyle offers from participating food and retail outlets.
Features and Activities
Daily fitness activities include walking and running at any pace, with options for 10K, 5K, and 2.5K runs. Weekend events offer sports challenges, community competitions, and prize giveaways, including iPhones, tablets, shopping vouchers, and gift cards, designed to engage all age groups and encourage public participation.
Facilities include fitness tracking, health awareness stations, guided stretching, children’s activity areas, and healthy lifestyle deals at nearby restaurants and retailers.
A Vision for a Healthier Dubai
The Dubai Mallathon is part of a broader vision to integrate physical activity into daily life and promote public health while providing a safe and pleasant environment for exercise during Dubai’s extreme summer temperatures. Launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the initiative aligns with major government strategies such as the Year of Community, the Dubai Social Agenda 33, and the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 33.
His Highness emphasised Dubai's ambition to become a global model for healthy living. He urged all members of society to participate in the Dubai Mallathon to make Dubai the world’s best place to live, work, and visit.
By reimagining underutilised indoor space for fitness, the Dubai Mallathon addresses environmental limitations while promoting a community culture of active living. The initiative reflects Dubai's broader urban vision, where infrastructure, innovation, and public well-being are seamlessly integrated into everyday life.
In summary, the Dubai Mallathon offers a comprehensive, free program letting Dubai residents and visitors stay active indoors at multiple malls each morning in August, supported by engaging activities and prizes to inspire wellness and community cohesion.
