Embracing Novel Developments for Our Digital Haven

In a significant move reflecting the broader shift in the magazine industry, the renowned Cosmos online news service has announced its transition to a new digital destination later this year. This change comes as audiences continue to gravitate towards digital platforms, and the costs of producing print magazines rise.

The final print edition of the platform will be published in June 2025, marking the end of an era for the much-loved publication. However, fear not, as the Cosmos online news service will continue at its current website during and after the transition.

In a bid to bring together audiences for a sustainable future, the new digital destination aims to publish peer-reviewed journals, e-books, and fact-based science news. This shift will offer an expanded online content experience, interactive features, and ongoing engagement with readers.

All subscribers will be refunded their remaining subscription term, with specific refund processes in place for those who purchased their subscription via EFT or paid on invoice through their school account, directly from the publishing partner, or through agents. Schools and libraries, as well as subscribers who purchased their subscription through the Royal Institution of Australia prior to June 2024, are encouraged to contact [email protected] or call 1300 788000 to organize a refund.

The production of the platform will cease in June 2025, giving way to a new era for Cosmos. While there is no official announcement confirming the end of print production for Cosmos magazine, this move aligns with industry trends that have seen many print magazines reduce or cease print production in recent years due to declining print revenue, shrinking freelance budgets, and the shift of audiences to digital platforms.

The new digital destination will continue to employ a news team dedicated to bringing you the latest science discoveries and interviews with scientists, ensuring that the spirit of Cosmos lives on in a digital-first media environment. Stay tuned for more updates as we navigate this exciting new chapter in the history of Cosmos.

The new Cosmos online news service will broaden its content by publishing peer-reviewed journals, e-books, and fact-based science news about medical-conditions and health-and-wellness, aiming to create a sustainable future through interactive features and ongoing engagement with readers. In this digital-first media environment, science news will continue to be reported by a dedicated news team, ensuring the spirit of Cosmos remains alive.
