Conference on Youth Sexual Health Insurance to be Held in Herford, Germany
On September 18, 2025, a conference focused on the sexual health insurance of young people will take place at the Herford County Administration Building. The event, organised by the Women's Health working group, is open to educators, school social workers, and other professionals who are keen to learn more about this important topic.
The conference, which is a full-day event, aims to address the topic of sexuality in its entirety. It will cover a wide range of subjects, including the basics of sexual education, managing digital risks, and medical focuses like endometriosis.
The location of the conference is in Herford, Germany, specifically at Amtshausstraße 3, 32051 Herford. Representatives from the Herford Youth Welfare Office, local schools, health departments, youth organizations, and sexual health counseling centres will be in attendance.
Experts from gynecology, diakonisches Werk, pro familia, the county health department, and school social work will provide practical insights and guidance throughout the day. One of the key topics of discussion will be the rising cases of sexually transmitted infections, with around 300,000 new cases of chlamydia reported nationwide.

The conference will also address the growing concerns around topics such as sexting and cyberbullying, which are now common in classrooms due to the digital dimension. Nearly one-third of young people report being unintentionally exposed to sexual content online.

It's important to note that approximately two million women in Germany suffer from endometriosis, a chronic condition that often begins in youth. On average, it takes seven to ten years for endometriosis to be diagnosed. This conference aims to shed light on this issue and provide practical solutions for early detection and management.
