Essen Braces for Autumn Respiratory Surge, Urges Vaccination

As autumn approaches, health authorities in Essen, Germany, are preparing for an expected surge in upper respiratory infections. Ulyana Chernykh, deputy chief physician at the 8th city polyclinic, confirms this seasonal increase. She emphasises that vaccination is the most effective way to prevent flu and coronavirus.

The optimal time for vaccination is October. Immunity from vaccination forms within two weeks, providing protection throughout the epidemic season. Deputy chief physician Chernykh urges everyone, especially those in risk groups - the elderly, pregnant women, and patients with chronic diseases - to get vaccinated.

In addition to vaccination, other preventive measures are crucial. Adequate sleep, proper nutrition, and moderate physical activity boost the immune system. Regular hand washing, use of antiseptics, room ventilation, and mask-wearing in crowded places can also significantly reduce infection risk.

The 8th city polyclinic in Essen is ready to administer vaccines. With the expected seasonal increase in acute respiratory infections, everyone is encouraged to get vaccinated in October. Alongside vaccination, maintaining good hygiene practices and a healthy lifestyle will help combat the spread of respiratory infections this season.
