Expands Preventive Healthcare: Farwaniya Hospital Opens New 'Tatman' Clinic in Kuwait

The Ministry of Health in Kuwait expanded its preventive healthcare initiative on Tuesday with the opening of a new "Tatman" clinic at the Farwaniya Hospital. The Public Health Department oversees this initiative, which is part of the broader vision to boost access to essential health services, enhance care quality, and promote community immunity through early detection and awareness.

Dr. Fahd Al-Ghamlas, Director of the Public Health Department, emphasized the significance of the new clinic in expanding public health services across the country. "This expansion eases access for both citizens and residents to preventive care and health guidance," he noted.

The "Tatman" initiative includes clinics for traveler testing, food handler screenings, and a range of preventive services aimed at fostering a health-conscious and secure society. Equipped with advanced diagnostics, the clinic offers rapid testing for several infectious diseases, including HIV, hepatitis B and C, syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia. Tests are conducted in a discreet and private environment, and some results are available within minutes. In the event of positive findings, individuals are referred for further testing and treatment follow-up.

Additionally, the clinic administers recommended preventive vaccinations to high-risk groups, reinforcing the Ministry's goal of strengthening community immunity and averting disease outbreaks in line with international public health standards. The opening ceremony was attended by several prominent health officials.

The Farwaniya clinic is the fourth to launch under the "Tatman" program, joining three previously established clinics located at Fahaheel Health Center, Jahra Hospital 2 (Communicable Diseases Hospital), and the Public Health Department in the Sabah Specialized Medical District. The Ministry's objective is to continuously enhance Kuwait's public health infrastructure.

Through targeted interventions such as these clinics, the Ministry of Health is working to safeguard the health of Kuwait's population, strive for improved public health outcomes, and foster a health-conscious society.
