All-Female Hologram Sessions by DJ Charlotte Devaney Celebrate Drum and Bass Pioneers

In the world of drum and bass, the All-Female Hologram Sessions, led by platinum-selling DJ Charlotte Devaney, are making waves. These innovative events pay tribute to historical drum and bass pioneers, blending technology and music culture to engage current and new audiences.

Charlotte, who first entered the scene as a young dancer in 2001, has been a champion of female talent since the beginning. She expressed her desire to continue showcasing female MC talent, a commitment that shines through in her curation of these sessions.

The All-Female Hologram Sessions have gained significant attention, with the likes of Skibadee, a prominent figure in the scene, appearing in hologram form. A TikTok post references the "Skibadee Charlotte Devaney Hologram Sessions" and mentions a Narni Zoom event, indicating a revival or continuation of these sessions.

The first all-female Hologram Session was dedicated to Leke, founder of the Junglist Movement. Charlotte has supported Leke from the start, admiring his relentless passion and hard work for his brand and the culture. Unfortunately, Leke is currently suffering from a rare tumor and has had his leg amputated. More information about his story and how to donate can be found here.

On February 12, Charlotte released an all-female Hologram Session featuring MCs Y-Zer, Enamie, and Iffy. This was the first time Charlotte had an all-female cast on Hologram duties. She wore one of Leke's infamous Junglist Movement t-shirts during the session, which can be purchased here.

The Hologram Sessions have hosted a variety of big names in the music industry, including Big Narstie, General Levy, Scrufizzer, MC Neat, The Ragga Twins, IRAH, Doktor, and Shabba D. On Sunday, Feb 18, Brixton bass is hosting an all-female Valentine's takeover.

Charlotte created the Hologram Sessions Series during the lockdown of 2020. Since then, the sessions have amassed over 5 million views across platforms. Charlotte thanked UKF for backing the first all-female Hologram Session.

As Charlotte looks to the future, she hopes that this will be the first of many all-female Hologram Sessions. She never thought 16 years ago that things would have come this far with the female presence and acceptance in the drum and bass scene. Her active role in the scene is marked by organizing innovative events that emphasize female talent and visibility, contributing to a visibly strong female presence in what has traditionally been a male-dominated electronic music subculture.
