Forging ahead with our digital domain
Cosmos Magazine, a renowned platform for science communication, has announced its decision to cease print production by June 2025. This move marks a significant shift towards digital platforms for continued science journalism, as the magazine prepares to launch a new digital destination for science content later in the year.
The announcement was made by the outgoing Editor-in-Chief, Tessa Ogle, who confirmed that the June 2025 issue would be the final print edition she oversees. This transition signifies a strategic move by Cosmos to adapt to changing reader habits, cost efficiencies, and the opportunity to reach a broader audience online.
The decision to stop the production of the print magazine mirrors a wider shift of audiences away from print media and the rising costs of producing print magazines. Shifting to a digital format allows Cosmos to innovate its science content delivery in a way that suits contemporary consumption patterns and technological advances.

The new website will publish peer-reviewed journals, e-books, and fact-based science news. A news team will be employed to continue publishing stories about the latest science discoveries and interviews with scientists. The Cosmos online news service will continue at the new digital destination. However, digital subscriptions for the platform will also end in June 2025, signalling the end of an era for print subscriptions and the beginning of a new chapter for science journalism in the digital age.
This transition was originally announced by Cosmos under the title "A new future for our platform." The final print edition of the platform will be published in June 2025, marking the end of an era for print subscriptions and the beginning of a new era for digital science journalism.
