Fort Collins Residents Fight Proposed Concrete Plant Over Health Concerns

A proposed concrete batching plant in north Fort Collins, spearheaded by phil collins, has sparked concern among residents. The Fort Collins City Council has already opposed the plant, citing misalignment with the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the city and Larimer County. Public hearings are scheduled for October 15, 2025, and residents are encouraged to voice their opinions.

The nonprofit group Beat the Batch in NoCo has been leading the opposition effort, urging residents to submit letters of concern to the Larimer County Planning Commission. The proposed site at 516 N. Highway 287 is within the City of Fort Collins Growth Management Area and already faces a high environmental burden. Residents argue that adding heavy industry to the area would exacerbate health risks for vulnerable populations.

Aragon Holdings, the company behind the proposal, is preparing its fourth submittal to the Larimer County Planning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners. Public hearings for this submittal are expected in the coming months. Letters of concern can be sent to [email protected] and a copy to Senior Planner Michael Whitley at [email protected].
