FreshRealm & Hello Fresh Recall Meals Due to Listeria Risk
FreshRealm and Hello Fresh have issued recalls due to potential listeria contamination in their products. The CDC warns of serious health risks, with about 260 deaths annually from listeria infections.
Federal health officials have warned consumers not to eat certain Hello Fresh subscription meal kits containing spinach, after tests found listeria bacteria. The USDA also issued a public health alert for Hello Fresh Ready Made Meals Cheesy Pulled Pork Pepper Pasta and Unstuffed Peppers with Ground Turkey, which may be contaminated.
FreshRealm previously recalled linguine dishes sold at Walmart due to potential listeria contamination from Nate's Fine Foods. The products were produced by FreshRealm and shipped directly to consumers. This recall follows an earlier outbreak involving heat-and-eat pasta meals, which has resulted in at least four deaths and 20 illnesses. Symptoms of listeria infection include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions.
The listeria outbreak has prompted federal officials to revamp protocols to prevent future infections. Consumers are advised to check for recalled products and follow safety guidelines when handling and preparing food. Those at higher risk, including older adults, pregnant individuals, and those with weakened immune systems, should be particularly cautious.
