Ice cream brand prohibited in Belarus

In a recent development, several popular food products in Russia have come under scrutiny due to violations of technical regulations and improper labeling. The Gomel Regional State Standardization Inspectorate has identified two Russian ice cream brands, "Factory of Dreams" and a two-layered variety with a blackberry aroma and filling of tutti-frutti and berries, as potentially dangerous for consumers.

The two-layered ice cream, along with a vanilla-flavored variant, have been banned due to laboratory tests revealing that the milk fat in the ice cream was replaced with a vegetable alternative, which is against current norms.

Similarly, the Russian company BULUNGUR GOLD FRUITS' Samarkand raisins were banned due to excessive mold levels. Another product, the Russian fruit mix "Fooddry" from manufacturer LLC "FUDRY", has been removed from sale due to the presence of prohibited synthetic dyes (E110, E102, E129, E133) and preservative E220 (sulfur dioxide) that were not indicated in the labeling.

The Russian sweets "Jam-Cookie" with apricot and forest berry flavors were found to contain preservative E210 (benzoic acid) that was not listed in the ingredients.

Currently, there are no specific reports or recalls mentioned regarding these brands in Russia. However, there is a general warning about an increase in food poisoning cases in summer cafes, which might suggest broader food safety concerns during the summer season in Russia.

For detailed information on specific recalls or safety concerns related to these brands, it is advised to consult official Russian consumer protection or health authorities' announcements, as well as the GlobalRecalls portal by OECD, which aggregates international recall information. Checking local Russian news sources or government websites for updates on any recent recalls or safety alerts would provide more specific information.

Consumers are urged to exercise caution and check the labels of their food products carefully to ensure they are consuming safe and properly labeled products. The authorities are working to address these issues and ensure the safety of the food supply in Russia.

  1. The concerns about food safety in Russia extend beyond ice cream, with products like the Samarkand raisins from BULUNGUR GOLD FRUITS, the Russian fruit mix "Fooddry" from LLC "FUDRY", and the Jam-Cookie sweets also coming under scrutiny for issues like excessive mold, synthetic dyes, and undisclosed preservatives.
  2. Beyond the individual product recalls, there is a broader warning about an increase in food poisoning cases in summer cafes in Russia, suggesting that health-and-wellness and lifestyle choices, including food-and-drink options, may need to be carefully considered during the summer season.
