II International Ophthalmology Olympiad's Top Award Goes to UDMU Students
Ural State Medical University (UGME) students emerged victorious in the II International Ophthalmology Olympiad held in Moscow. The winning team consisted of Angelina Solovyeva, Victoria Beloslyudtseva, and Yekaterina Starikova, who were among the eight finalists, competing against top Russian universities and future medical specialists from Belarus and Jordan.
According to the press service of UGME, the students' success was a testament to their perseverance, mutual support, and dedication to professional growth. Victoria Beloslyudtseva, one of the UGME students, shared her sentiments, expressing pride in their achievement and gratitude to their mentor, Arseny Andreyevich Grinev, for his invaluable help and faith in them.
The competition consisted of two stages. The theoretical stage involved testing participants on anatomy, the physiology of the eye, and ophthalmology. The practical stage required students to demonstrate their skills in working with microscopes and applying surgical techniques. Out of the 40 teams that initially participated, eight made it to the final round.
UGME Rector, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Olga Kovtun, noted the victory as confirmation of the high level of training at the university and the professional ambition of its students. Kovtun expressed pride in their achievements and belief that such successes strengthen the university's position within the medical education system.
In a previous report by "Oblastnaya Gazeta," an Olympiad of professional skills was held among students with disabilities in Sysert. However, this information is not directly related to the II International Ophthalmology Olympiad won by the Ural State Medical University students.
The students' victory in the II International Ophthalmology Olympiad highlights their dedication to health-and-wellness, specifically medical-conditions related to the eye. Their learnings from this competition, driven by education-and-self-development, will no doubt contribute to their future careers in science.
