Efficiently Slashing Annual Expenses by $1 Million: A Global Healthcare Manufacturer Enhances Temperature and Humidity Management in Production Facilities

Improvements in temperature and humidity control in production areas help a major healthcare manufacturer reduce costs by more than $1 million per year.

The Global Healthcare Production Facility (GHPF), a 860,000 square feet facility, has made significant strides in energy conservation, achieving a 9% reduction in energy consumption and annual savings of $1.03 million. This impressive accomplishment was made possible through the implementation of Cimetrics' solution, as well as the adoption of a sustainability policy aiming to reduce energy consumption by 20% over 10 years.

The exact energy conservation measures implemented at GHPF are not explicitly detailed, but they likely involve facility-wide energy assessments, optimized airflow management, enhanced insulation, and heat energy recovery. These approaches are aligned with best practices shown in the industrial and healthcare sectors.

Cimetrics worked closely with GHPF's facilities personnel to replace faulty equipment and collaborated with Siemens, GHPF's building automation system provider. The data collection process involved monitoring various systems such as air handling units, pumps, chillers, cooling towers, and terminal units. Over 1,000 Analytika software algorithms were used to analyze the data and identify opportunities for energy savings, improved comfort, and reduced operations and maintenance costs.

One of the notable findings was the detection and diagnosis of a leaking preheat coil valve in a large air handling unit. This issue was identified through root cause analysis provided by Cimetrics, leading to the verification that the optimum sequence of operations were programmed into the building automation system (BAS). As a result, GHPF was able to achieve additional annual energy savings of $55,027 and reduce annual carbon emissions by an additional 264 metric tons.

GHPF's commitment to sustainability extends beyond energy savings. The facility is a member of Practice Greenhealth, a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering and celebrating healthcare organisations to reduce their environmental footprint. The energy savings at GHPF equate to taking 1,015 cars off the road, further emphasising the facility's significant contribution to environmental conservation.

In conclusion, the energy efficiency success at GHPF is a testament to the power of collaboration and the adoption of best practices in energy conservation. The facility's ongoing efforts towards sustainability not only benefit the environment but also contribute to significant financial savings.

The Global Healthcare Production Facility (GHPF) utilizes technology in its energy conservation strategies, with data-and-cloud-computing solutions like Cimetrics and Siemens' analytics playing crucial roles. This facility's sustainability policy, aiming for a 20% reduction in energy consumption over a decade, aligns with the goals of the health-and-wellness and fitness-and-exercise industry. The GHPF's commitments extend to finance, demonstrating cost-effective energy savings of $1.03 million annually, as well as additional savings of $55,027 due to identifying and correcting energy leaks. Furthermore, the GHPF's dedication to the environment is evident in its membership with Practice Greenhealth, a non-profit promoting environmental conservation in the industry.
