In the Omsk region, after five years, the heightened preparedness regime due to COVID-19 has been lifted.
The regime of enhanced readiness for dealing with COVID-19 in Omsk region has been scrapped, as per a directive issued by regional governor Vitaly Khotenko on May 5, 2025.
"Cancelling the state of enhanced readiness for the relevant authorities and the territorial system of state emergency prevention and response in Omsk region", the document reads.
The enhanced readiness regime, enforced since 2020, primarily restricted mass events if they were not organized by the authorities.
However, the COVID-19 situation remains concerning on a federal level across Russia. As of late March 2025, the governmental crisis center ceased to announce weekly COVID data, stating that the situation had normalized, and the virus had become a seasonal one. Despite this declaration, the Rospotrebnadzor continues to monitor infectious diseases.
