Internationally recognized scientist lauded as an academician by the Global Association of Scientific Academies
Vietnamese Scientist Recognized as IAAS Academician
In a significant achievement for the Vietnamese scientific community, Professor Lê Trưòng Giang, Vice President of the Việt Nam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), has been elected as an academician of the International Association of Academies of Sciences (IAAS).
The ceremony took place during the 38th meeting of the IAAS Council in Minsk, Belarus, on Thursday. Professor Lê Trưòng Giang joins the ranks of two other Vietnamese scientists who have previously received the IAAS Academician title: Professor Châu Văn Minh, the VAST President, who was the first individual from Vietnam to receive the title in 2019, and another unnamed scientist who was appointed in a previous year.
Professor Lê Trưòng Giang's expertise lies in chemistry-related fields, including analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, food toxicology, and optimisation. He has led and participated in numerous research projects, ranging from modeling the kinetics of chemical reactions to developing technologies for treating persistent organic pollutants in the environment and controlling toxins in food.
The IAAS Academician title is awarded to a select group of outstanding scientists who play a leading role and have significant influence in the international scientific community. The title serves to recognize and honor scientists who contribute significantly to the international scientific community, as demonstrated by Professor Lê Trưòng Giang's achievements.
The IAAS is an organization that elects academicians from various member institutions worldwide. From its inception in 2019 until the 37th meeting in 2024, the IAAS has elected 54 academicians from thousands of outstanding scientists from member organizations.
The recognition of Professor Lê Trưòng Giang as an IAAS Academician is another significant achievement for the Việt Nam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and the scientific community in Vietnam. It is further evidence of the maturity and growing international integration of Vietnam's science on the global stage.
