Israel Blocks Iran-Linked Cyber Attack on Assaf Harofeh Hospital

Israel's Ministry of Health and National Cyber Directorate successfully thwarted a cybersecurity attack on Assaf Harofeh, a government medical center, in its early stages. The attack, suspected to be from the Iranian APT35 group, was blocked before causing significant disruption, unlike a previous incident at Shamir Medical Center in 2021.

The attack was detected and blocked by officials from the Ministry of Health and the National Cyber Directorate. Assaf Harofeh, also known as Shamir Medical Center, was the target. The hospital's operations continued as usual, thanks to the swift action of the officials.

The hackers exploited a vulnerability in a personal laptop of a support employee at a cybersecurity company to gain access. The possibility of information leakage is currently under investigation. This incident is reminiscent of a previous attack on the same hospital in 2021, also suspected to be from an Iranian group.
