Issues Affecting Women's Health Beyond the Age of Fifty

According to the study, 73.03% of the elderly women have osteoarthritis, 78.65% have hypertension, and 66.29% have diabetes. Additionally, 77.52% of the women were found to have bronchial asthma, and 61.79% reported anemia and skin problems. Cataracts were a concern for 65.16% of the women in the study.
The increased prevalence of these conditions can be attributed to the significant decline in estrogen and progesterone levels during menopause. The drop in estrogen triggers physiological changes that produce the range of symptoms and long-term health risks seen in women over 50.

These symptoms are caused by the fluctuating and declining estrogen levels during perimenopause and menopause.

The rapid bone mass loss caused by estrogen deficiency after menopause increases the risk of fractures. Women can lose 10-20% of their bone density in the first five years post-menopause, making them more susceptible to fractures and breaks.
The risk of cardiovascular disease also increases with age for both men and women. However, the decrease in estrogen during menopause affects cholesterol profiles and removes estrogen's protective effects on the heart, further increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease.
