Maintenance Plan for PM-10 Air Quality Control in Grants Pass, Spanning a Decade
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has given its approval to a ten-year maintenance plan for the Grants Pass area, ensuring continued compliance with the PM National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) up until 2025.
The plan, submitted by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) on April 22, 2015, was published in the Federal Register on September 28, 2015, under 80 FR 45431 (pdf). The focus of the plan is to maintain compliance with the PM NAAQS for a 10-year period, with the EPA's approval on July 30, 2015, and its effectiveness confirmed on the same date in September.
The plan primarily relies on control strategies for industrial emissions and residential wood combustion. Additional reductions are expected from statewide efforts to reduce slash burning smoke. Notably, the plan does not involve any advertisements.
The EPA's approval ensures that the Grants Pass area will continue to meet the PM NAAQS for the next decade, providing a cleaner and healthier environment for its residents. The plan's approval marks a significant step towards improving air quality in the region and demonstrates the commitment of both the EPA and ODEQ to maintaining and preserving the PM-NAS for the Grants Pass area.
