Mickey Huang resolves cases with additional 5 victims involving child sexual abuse material

Gossip Galore: TV Personality Mickey Huang's Legal Woes Intensify

TV host and entertainer Mickey Huang (黃子佼), embroiled in a child pornography scandal, has settled with yet more victims. The High Court played host to a mediation session with five victims and their families today, following a similar event on Monday.

Huang fessed up to possessing an astounding 2,259 sexually explicit videos featuring at least 35 minors, with the youngest being a mere 10 years old.

Apparently, Huang's a member of an online forum called "Chuangyi Sifang" (創意私房), and he's been indulging in this vile activity since February 12, 2014. He'd purchase and gawk at sexually explicit videos and pictures of minors on this platform.

Last December, the Taipei District Court gave Huang an 8-month prison sentence and slapped him with a NT$100,000 fine. But guess what? Both Huang and the prosecutors didn't like that verdict and have appealed it. The second trial is currently underway at the High Court.

Going back, the prosecutors recently discovered another 12 victims related to the 586 sexual videos found on Huang's devices. These additional charges will be tried at the High Court.

During a court hearing in March, Huang acknowledged some of his crimes but refused to accept that he knew the victims were minors or that he violated the Personal Data Protection Act (個人資料保護法). Hoping to make amends, Huang requested a mediation with the victims.

With the trial set to continue this month, let's hope justice is served swiftly. Keep your eyes peeled for updates.

Extra Scoop: Despite accusations, there's no evidence of Huang reaching agreements with additional victims beyond what's been detailed in the criminal conviction proceedings.[1][2] The court has not mentioned any post-conviction settlements or victim compensation, suggesting the case remains within the criminal prosecution framework. Remember, the focus is on the criminal case, not civil suits.
