Ministry of State Appoints Bochumer as Loneliness Ambassador
In a significant move to address the growing issue of loneliness, Tim Kramer has been appointed as the 'Ambassador for Active Against Loneliness' in Berlin. This appointment, made by State Minister Christiane Schenderlein and the 'Federal Network for Civic Engagement', comes amidst the 'Week of Civic Engagement', running until September 21st.
Kramer's appointment is a testament to the increasing attention being paid to the topic of loneliness. Loneliness, contrary to popular belief, is not necessarily related to the number of social relationships one has. Instead, it describes a sense of disconnection in social relationships, a feeling of isolation, and a lack of fulfilling social connections.
Kramer's journey in combating loneliness began in 2023 when he co-founded the initiative 'eigen.-From loneliness and togetherness' with Sonja Israel. This initiative later led to the establishment of 'Vereint Bochum' in May 2025.
'Vereint Bochum' is described as true bridge builders from person to person, implementing diverse ideas and actions to foster connections and combat loneliness. The club's mission aligns with Kramer's new role, aiming to create a more connected and engaged society.
While information about Sonja Israel, Kramer's co-founder, is limited, her contributions to the initiative project 'eigen.-Von Einsamkeit und Gemeinschaft' ('own.-Of Loneliness and Community') are noteworthy.
Loneliness is a difficult feeling, and managing it can be challenging. However, initiatives like those led by Tim Kramer and Sonja Israel are working to make a difference, fostering a sense of community and connection to help combat this complex emotion.
