Olympus, Gore Partner to Bring Innovative Biliary Stent to Europe
Olympus Corporation has inked an international distribution deal with W. L. Gore & Associates. The agreement brings the innovative GORE® VIABIL® Biliary Endoprosthesis to Europe, with wider global expansion planned over time. This stent, designed for endoscopic placement, promises to enhance care for gastrointestinal (GI) patients worldwide.
The GORE® VIABIL® Biliary Endoprosthesis is a fully covered, self-expanding metal stent. It's engineered to alleviate symptoms caused by biliary strictures. A nonporous ePTFE/FEP lining prevents tumor ingrowth without boosting migration rates. The stent boasts an easy-to-use delivery system and a non-foreshortening design, ensuring precise deployment.
Olympus, eager to expand its global entry in the burgeoning GI metal stent market, will initially focus on commercialization in Europe. The company aims to elevate the standard of care for GI patients by offering superior solutions. Under the agreement, Olympus becomes the exclusive international distributor of the VIABIL stent.
Both companies expressed confidence in the partnership. Jake Goble, Gore's Cardiac and Surgical Solutions Business Leader, and Mike Callaghan, Olympus' Global SVP/General Manager EndoTherapy, lauded the collaboration and the potential of the VIABIL stent.
Olympus and Gore's partnership brings the innovative GORE® VIABIL® Biliary Endoprosthesis to Europe and beyond. With its advanced design and Olympus' global reach, the stent promises to improve the lives of GI patients worldwide.
