A Ski Accident Sets the Stage for Obesity
Versatile as they come, Michael Schanze once thrived in extreme sports. He was a force to be reckoned with on land, water, and tennis courts. However, a ski accident in 2003 brought his sports career to a screeching halt. He plunged 25 meters off a mountain, injuring his spine in the process.
"Less movement unfortunately meant more belly for me," Schanze admits, tracing his weight gain back to that fateful day. By 2023, he was almost creeping up to the 200-kilo mark. His deteriorating joints could no longer support his weight when making public appearances, forcing him to rely on a rollator. But then, he made a life-altering decision.
"Between January 10, 2023, and today, I've gone from 198 to 125 kilos," Schanze boasts of his weight loss triumph. His secret weapon? "I eat more mindfully, stay active as much as I can, and I give myself a weight loss injection every Sunday." Aiming to shed even more pounds, Schanze wants to reach 100 kilos. "My next goal is to become a 'sub-100' man," the TV personality revealingly shares.

Just a year ago, Schanze was already grappling with the tragedy of losing Uschi. "I was the one with the health issues, not Uschi," he stated in August 2024 to the magazine "Bunte". Uschi had been a constant source of support during his struggles.
