Over 2,500 Landshut First-Graders Get Free Organic Lunch Boxes
Over 2,500 first-graders in Landshut city and district received a free, organic lunch box this year. The Eco-Model Region Landshut, along with BUND Nature Conservation, made this possible through donations and a grant from the Bavarian State Ministry.
Deputy Mayor Dr. Thomas Haslinger, standing in for Mayor Alexander Putz, helped distribute the lunch boxes. Each box was filled with organic products sourced from the Landshut region. Before receiving their boxes, the children enjoyed a story reading by Haslinger, about a little caterpillar who loved to eat.
The initiative aims to promote healthy eating habits in children from an early age. Alongside the food, students received age-appropriate information about balanced nutrition and the benefits of locally produced organic products. The action will continue annually to encourage healthy eating and motivate parents to provide sustainable snacks daily.
Approximately 2,500 first-graders benefited from this year's organic lunch box action. The event, organized by the Eco-Model Region Landshut and BUND Nature Conservation, was made possible by numerous donors and an eco-small-project grant. The goal is to instill healthy eating habits in children and foster a sustainable mindset.
