Health Screenings in Tomsk Region Highlight Early Disease Detection
In the Tomsk region of Russia, a comprehensive health screening campaign was conducted in 2025, as part of the national project 'Healthy Longevity'. Over 472,379 residents, including 116,000 children, underwent preventive health screenings, aimed at detecting serious diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and digestive system diseases.
The health screenings were carried out by a combination of regional medical organizations and mobile teams, totalling 33 organizations and 15 mobile teams. The screenings were designed to focus on the early detection of diseases, a strategy emphasized by Robert Fidarov, head of the Tomsk region's health department.
Mr. Fidarov highlighted the importance of preventive examinations, stating that they increase the chances of successful treatment and recovery. He also pointed out that in the eight months of 2025, a total of 20,817 diseases were detected, with 4,780 cases of cardiovascular diseases, 628 cases of diabetes, and 819 digestive system diseases.
To ensure convenience for residents, a 24/7 hotline was established. Residents can contact the hotline using the numbers 8 (3822) 516-616, 8-800-350-88-50, or 122. This initiative has made the health screenings more accessible, allowing residents to schedule appointments at their convenience.
The health screenings in the Tomsk region have proven to be effective, enabling the detection of serious diseases at early stages. Particular attention is being given to children's health, with over 27,000 newly detected diseases among young patients. This focus on preventive care is expected to contribute significantly to the health and well-being of the region's residents.
