Person moves to psychiatric institution subsequent to spitting incident
In an unprecedented incident at Kiel station on 18.09.2025, a man refused to disembark a train, leading to a confrontation with federal police officers.
The man, who has not been publicly identified, resisted federal police officers and had to be removed by force. During the altercation, he blocked and held onto seats, causing further obstruction.
The situation escalated when the man refused a breathalyzer test and spat at the officers, resulting in two federal police officers being hit in the face by his spit. The man was then carried to the Federal Police Station at the station due to his refusal to walk on his own.
Following the incident, the man was temporarily placed in a psychiatric facility in Heiligenhafen for evaluation.
The Federal Police Directorate in Bad Bramstedt, which operates in Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and the North and Baltic Seas, is responsible for the man's arrest. The Directorate's tasks include protecting the federal territory at the border, railway police duties, and border, maritime, and environmental police duties in the North and Baltic Seas. The Directorate employs approximately 2,600 staff members, including police officers, administrative staff, and hourly workers.
The man will face charges of resisting law enforcement, assault, insult, and fraud. The Directorate's operations are based on the Federal Police Act and other laws.
