Prof. Dr. Susanne Nau Elected to Lead German Society for Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine

Prof. Dr. Susanne Nau, a distinguished anesthesiologist and intensive care medicine specialist, has been elected to lead the German Society for Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (DGAI) in 2026. She succeeds Prof. Dr. Gernot Marx.

Prof. Nau brings a wealth of experience to the role, having been actively involved in the DGAI for many years. She has served as head of the commission for anesthesiologists and has been instrumental in promoting young talent within the field.

Her research interests span pain and intensive care medicine, with a recent focus on digitalization. Prof. Nau's commitment to scientific excellence is well-known, as is her dedication to fostering the careers of young scientists and advocating for gender equality.

In recognition of her significant contributions to the field, Prof. Nau was inducted into the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in 2024.
