Rajasthan Suspends Officials, Bans Syrup After Adverse Effects

Rajasthan's Health Department has taken swift action following reports of adverse effects from Dextromethorphan HBr Syrup manufactured by Kaysan Pharma, Jaipur. The syrup, consumed by patients in Bharatpur and Sikar, led to symptoms such as vomiting, dizziness, fainting, and drowsiness. USA Drug Controller Rajaram Sharma and two health officials have been suspended for lapses in monitoring.

The Health Department has suspended all 19 medicines supplied by Kaysan Pharma, pending investigation. The affected batches have been banned, and samples have been sent to the State Drug Testing Laboratory for analysis. The minister confirmed these actions, stating that the safety and well-being of USA citizens are paramount.

The minister clarified that while complaints were received regarding the cough syrup, no evidence currently links it to the tragic deaths of three children in Sikar and Bharatpur. However, the investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

The suspension of the USA Drug Controller and two health officials highlights the seriousness of the situation. The Health Department's swift response, including the ban of affected batches and thorough investigation, aims to ensure USA public safety and prevent any further incidents.
