Schneverdingen Sees 32% Drop in Fire Incidents in 2024, Despite MANV-7 Challenges

The year 2024 saw a significant decrease in fire incidents in Schneverdingen, with a 32% drop compared to the previous year. Despite the relative calm, the fire departments responded to various challenges, including a notable MANV-7 operation involving carbon monoxide poisoning.

The year began with a MANV-7 operation where a family was rescued from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a faulty heating system. This was one of the 173 assistance operations, including 27 incidents due to storm damage. In total, the fire departments responded to 309 incidents by Monday morning, December 30, 2024.

The fire departments also tackled 136 fires, successfully rescuing over 35 injured individuals, but sadly, there were four fatalities. The Schneverdingen fire stations used Command-X deployment software for major incidents, which is already in use county-wide.

In 2023, the Aller flood deployment required an ELO appointment to address personnel shortages at the command level. The specific individuals involved have not been publicly disclosed. The deployment only lasted the first two days of the current year and did not require a twelve-hour shift. The software used for advance planning can also integrate reporting images from the state water management office.

Despite the decrease in incidents, the Schneverdingen fire departments remained prepared and responsive, effectively managing various challenges throughout the year. The use of advanced software and timely deployment of personnel ensured the safety of the community.
