New and Improved Version

Get a glimpse into the world of security with Jo, a dedicated security pro notable for her stellar work at a high-end Holborn hotel. We caught up with her at Westfield E20 before she ducked out for her latest gig.

Question 1: How'd you break into the security biz?

Answer: I pulled off CCTV, Close Protection, and Door Supervisor certifications like a breeze, then nabbed a gig at Lafayette nightclub in north London. The place was known for hosting big-name DJs and performers, often hosting private parties with huge attendances from high-profile individuals. Gaining experience and making connections, I then moved on to Trojan Security, where I worked at the Troxy - a famous Art Deco music venue in East London. Between gigs, I landed at the Rosewood London, and I've been there since 2023.

Question 2: What's the lowdown on your gig?

Answer: I work on the client-facing side and primarily focus on security during the hotel's events. These shindigs often cater to celebrities, VIPs, and other famous faces, so good communication skills are a must. Confidentiality, discretion, common sense, and the ability to size up situations are essential.

Question 3: What's been the most memorable moment in your security career?

Answer: I've rubbed elbows with some amazing people - whether guests, performers, or well-heeled tycoons, from Hollywood A-listers to top soccer stars and successful business execs. I've had the chance to meet interesting folks from the worlds of music, film, fashion, and more.

Question 4: What's your advice for someone keen on starting a career in security?

Answer: Keep your thirst for knowledge strong! Learn from those around you, take their advice, and continuously develop your skills.

Question 5: Where do you see yourself headed in the future?

Answer: I've got a dream of founding a female-focused security company – blowing the dust off the industry and attracting more women to security roles.
