Starting Day with Limited Data Connectivity: 2G Service Resumed
In the heart of Germany, the historic city of Aachen is gearing up for a much-anticipated event – the resumption of its traditional carnival celebrations after a long hiatus due to the pandemic. The Conference Center (CC) recently held its first press conference in 20 months, setting the stage for a series of exciting announcements.
The ball ticket price for the 8th Hoppeditz, scheduled to take place in the Henkelsaal on November 13, has been increased from 11 to 15 euros due to pandemic-related financial consequences. The event will follow the 2G rule, ensuring the safety of all attendees.
The children and youth Hoppeditz awakening, a cherished tradition, will see Niklas Wesche (10) from the Rhine Guard Blue-White delivering a speech. Following the ceremony, a small parade through the old town will add to the festive atmosphere.
Hans-Jürgen Tüllmann, the CC manager, expressed a mix of optimism and caution about the carnival restart. He fondly recalled the Rosenmontag day, mentioning it as the day he smoked his last cigarette, a symbol of leaving behind the troubles of the past and embracing the spirit of the carnival.
Stefan Kleinehr, the CC vice-president, described the crowning of the Prince Couple as a "long, long wait." The ceremony is scheduled for November 19 in the city hall.
However, plans for Altweiber and Rosenmontag in February 2022 are still under consideration. A mini Rosenmontag parade with eight wagons, similar to this year's, could potentially be avoided to ensure safety measures are maintained. Stefan Kleinehr emphasised that the normalcy of these events depends on the virus situation around January.
Despite initial harsh reactions, the CC's vaccination regulations have been well-received, and the harsh reactions have subsided. The CC spokesman, Hans-Peter Suchand, set a positive yet cautious tone for the carnival restart, expressing hope for a successful and enjoyable event.
It's important to note that while Carnival Cruise Line has resumed its operations since mid-2021, this article primarily focuses on the carnival event restart in Aachen, not a cruise restart. The Conference Center (CC) has announced that the 8th Hoppeditz, focusing on 'science' and 'health-and-wellness' as part of the 'lifestyle' segment, will have a ticket price increase from 11 to 15 euros to cover pandemic-related financial implications. In the spirit of ensuring a safe 'lifestyle' environment for all attendees, the event will adhere to the 2G rule.
