The Klinikum Ingolstadt, located in northern Upper Bavaria, has been successfully re-certified as a supra-regional trauma center. This prestigious recognition attests to the hospital's commitment to providing high-quality medical care to seriously injured patients.

As a supra-regional trauma center, Klinikum Ingolstadt meets stringent criteria established under the German trauma care network system (TraumaNetzwerk DGU®), overseen by the German Trauma Society (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Unfallchirurgie, DGU). These criteria include comprehensive 24/7 trauma care capacity, advanced infrastructure and technology, specialized trauma teams, high patient volume and experience, participation in outcome documentation and quality assurance programs, and network cooperation.

The re-certification process was conducted by the DGU, with the responsible certification body confirming the quality of medical care at the Klinikum Ingolstadt's trauma center. The internal treatment pathways and structured interdisciplinary processes at the trauma center were evaluated as very positive by the certification body.

The Klinikum Ingolstadt's trauma center is led by Dr. Andreas Tietje, Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director. An interdisciplinary team of experts is crucial for preventing potential long-term damage in severely and critically injured individuals, as per Prof. Dr. Hans-Georg Palm, Director of the Center for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery and Head of the Trauma Center.
