The veteran, who fought in the Great Patriotic War, marked his 101st year of life with a celebration.

In the heart of Russia's Sverdlovsk region, a solemn parade was held to honour a remarkable woman, Valentina Batkova, on her 101st birthday. Born in 1924, Valentina has lived a life of service and resilience, with her contributions to the Great Patriotic War earning her the title of an honorary citizen of the region.

Valentina Batkova, originally ValentinaGeorgievna, began her journey as a student at the Moscow Red Banner Military Aviation Technical School. Upon graduating in 1941, she was immediately drafted into the army and served as a meteorologist in the city of Stalino (now Donetsk). Her dedication to her duties during the war was unwavering, with reports suggesting she worked 14-16 hours a day, preparing for combat flights.

Valentina's military career was not the only chapter in her life that showcased her determination. After the war, she moved to Sverdlovsk with her husband Viktor and raised two daughters, Lyudmila and Lyubov. She also worked as a bookkeeper at a reinforced concrete products plant until her retirement, accumulating 37 years of work experience.

The end of the Great Patriotic War found ValentinaGeorgievna on the Polish border in the city of Strzyz. Today, her legacy continues to inspire, with three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter carrying on her name.

For those researching lesser-known individuals or seeking archival materials, consulting regional historical archives, veteran organisations, or local museums in the Sverdlovsk region might prove valuable. While there is limited publicly available information about Valentina Batkova, her story serves as a testament to the indomitable spirit of the Great Patriotic War generation.

As we celebrate Valentina Batkova's centenarian milestone, we honour not just a woman who lived through history, but a hero who contributed significantly to its course. Her story is a reminder of the sacrifices made and the resilience shown during one of the most challenging periods in human history.

Valentina Batkova's dedication to her roles extended beyond military service, as she also delved into the scientific field of meteorology during her tenure as a meteorologist. Her health-and-wellness practices, evident in her tireless work ethic, sustained her through the rigors of aging. Despite her advanced age, Valentina Georgeivna's contributions to science, health-and-wellness, and society continue to inspire future generations.
