Fieldsheer Merino Wool Heated Socks Recalled due to Burn and Blister Hazard

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada have issued a recall for Fieldsheer's Merino Wool Heated Socks. The recall comes after reports of burns and blisters caused by overheating, particularly during high-intensity activities.

Recall Details

The recalled Fieldsheer Merino Wool Heated Socks, models MWMS05, MWWS07, and a Premium 2.0 variation with different battery pocket mechanisms (MWMS07), were sold between August 2021 and June 2025. The recall affects approximately 71,538 units, with about 26,492 units sold in Canada and 45,046 units in the U.S.

The hazard arises from the lithium-ion battery packs embedded in the socks, which can overheat due to a combination of heat, excessive friction, moisture, and pressure. As a result, there have been 30+ reports of burns or blisters, with 19 incidents in Canada and 10 incidents in the U.S., including cases with actual injuries.

Consumer Actions

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled socks and contact Fieldsheer Apparel Technologies for a refund or replacement. Lithium-ion batteries should be disposed of following local hazardous waste regulations due to the fire risk.

The consumer contact for recall inquiries is available via Fieldsheer’s toll-free hotline at 888-908-6024 (8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT).

Summary

This recall is a joint effort by Health Canada, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and Fieldsheer Apparel Technologies to ensure consumer safety. Consumers are urged to follow the recommended actions to avoid any potential injuries.

In light of the recall, it's crucial to avoid using the Fieldsheer Merino Wool Heated Socks in high-intensity activities due to health-and-wellness concerns such as burns and blisters. Therapies-and-treatments for injuries related to these socks may be required if not addressed promptly, as overheating from the lithium-ion battery packs can cause such issues.
