Two Belarusian women have been hospitalized following botulinum toxin injections, commonly known as Botox. Tatiana and Inna both experienced troubling symptoms shortly after their treatments in the town of Osiipovichi.

Tatiana, a 42-year-old woman, reports feeling symptoms such as double vision, dizziness, weak muscles, and difficulty swallowing. She visited a local cosmetologist for the procedure, which normally intended to address wrinkles on her forehead. However, she alleges that the cosmetologist injected her with a larger amount of the "frown line" treatment and various other areas on her face. The total cost was 460 rubles but Tatiana only paid 160 on the day of the procedure, with the remaining to be settled later.

Inna, a 50-year-old woman, has been undergoing cosmetic procedures for approximately ten years. She initially only visited the same cosmetologist for depilation, but later began receiving Botox injections for fresher, younger-looking skin. On April 17th, Inna underwent a new treatment during which she was injected with a previously unencountered product called "Rentox." The cosmetologist failed to warn her about the new substance and the procedure cost 540 rubles, significantly higher than usual.

Both women have spent time in the hospital and are still dealing with the aftermath of their treatments. They are experiencing weakness, slurred speech, and difficulty with everyday activities. Doctors at Minsk's "fifth" hospital diagnosed Tatiana with a myasthenic reaction caused by botulinum toxin type A injections. Myasthenia is a muscle weakness condition due to impaired nerve-muscle transmission.

When asked about the issue, the cosmetologist reportedly claimed the reactions were due to the patients' individual sensitivities to the medication. She denies any wrongdoing and maintains that the treatments were performed according to standard protocols. Meanwhile, the women plan to file complaints against the cosmetologist and seek further action to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Based on the experiences of these women, it's essential to consult reputable clinics and qualified professionals for cosmetic procedures. The use of uncertified botulinum toxin products can pose significant risks, as they may not be fully studied or comply with safety regulations. Ensuring that treatments are conducted by certified professionals in regulated facilities is crucial for the safety and efficacy of cosmetic procedures.

  1. The incident with Tatiana and Inna highlights the importance of science and therapies and treatments that are conducted by certified professionals in regulated facilities for health and wellness, including skin care and mental health.
  2. Tatiana's experience of chronic diseases like myasthenia, caused by botulinum toxin type A injections, underscores the potential dangers of using uncertified medical-conditions products.
  3. Inna's encounter with the new substance "Rentox" serves as a reminder of the need for clear and informed consent about the nature of treatments and their associated costs.
  4. In the wake of these unfortunate events, it's crucial for individuals to prioritize their health and wellness, and be aware of the potential risks associated with various cosmetic-procedures and their treatments.
