Today's Principal Information Bureau Updates (14th June, 2025)

The year 2025 is shaping up to be a significant one for yoga and wellness enthusiasts worldwide. While a flagship global event named "Yoga Connect 2025" may not be explicitly identified, a series of events under the yoga connection theme are making a meaningful impact on community well-being and the spread of yogic practices across various regions.

Highlights of Yoga Connect 2025

The Yoga Connect 2025 summit, hosted by the Ministry of Ayush, will take place on June 14, 2025, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The event marks 10 years of India's global yoga movement, initiated with the UN's recognition of June 21 as International Day of Yoga (IDY) in 2014.

A major highlight of the summit will be the release of the 'Yoga Prabhava' report. The report is expected to provide insights into the growth and impact of yoga in India and beyond. Renowned yoga personalities such as Swami Baba Ramdevji, Acharya Balakrishnaji, HR Nagendraji, and others will participate in the summit.

Three knowledge products will be unveiled at the summit: Decadal Impact of Yoga (E-book), Scientometric Analysis of Yoga Research, and Bhartiya Vriksha Vaibhavam (a booklet on native Indian trees).

Technology and Sustainable Growth

Technology adoption, such as RAS and Biofloc, and the integration of traditional knowledge with innovation, has been promoted for sustainable growth in the fisheries sector. The potential of Amrit Sarovar for Rohu and Catla farming, and the need for robust cold storage, transport, and market linkages, has been emphasized.

Government schemes such as Blue Revolution, FIDF, PMMSY, PM-MKSSY, and KCC have infused ₹38,572 crore to modernize and expand the sector. The Department of Fisheries aims to expand the culture area from 55 to 70 lakh hectares and double productivity from 5 to 10 tonnes/ha. States were urged to improve utilization of FIDF funds, coordinate implementation with ICAR, and expand coldwater, ornamental, and saline aquaculture.

Global Collaboration and Impact

Experts from countries like Bahrain, the US, the UK, and South Korea will join the Yoga Connect 2025 summit. Thematic sessions at the summit will cover topics such as Yoga for NCD prevention, women's health, Yoga-Tech, Yoga commerce, and impact assessment.

In addition to the summit, virtual "Yoga for Connection" sessions held online and outdoor community yoga events like "Yoga + Connection at the Park" in Salt Lake City are fostering social connection and mental health. The OMNI Tahoe Yoga Festival at Heavenly Mountain Resort promotes mindfulness, inclusion, and sustainability with the goal of recharging and empowering attendees for lasting well-being via holistic outdoor experiences.

These initiatives collectively contribute by promoting wellness practices accessible to a wide range of participants, encouraging mindfulness and stress reduction through yoga and meditation, building supportive communities, highlighting sustainable and inclusive approaches to wellness and lifestyle, and providing educational opportunities about yoga and holistic health.

While there is no single centrally branded "Yoga Connect 2025" global summit found in the available information, the combined activities under yoga connection themes throughout 2025 create meaningful impact on community well-being and the spread of yogic practices across various regions.

  1. The Yoga Connect 2025 summit, a significant government scheme, aims to promote yogic practices and provide insights into their growth and impact, not just in India but globally.
  2. Beyond the Yoga Connect 2025 summit, science and technology collaborations, such as those in fitness-and-exercise technologies or sustainable farming methods, are integral parts of health-and-wellness initiatives around the world.
