Veterans of World War II in Yakutia are eligible to receive military uniforms.
In the cold region of Yakutia, efforts are being made to support veterans of the Special Military Operation (SVO). As of today, 10 repairs for housing adaptations have been completed, and 20 applications have been approved, providing homes that cater to the needs of these veterans.
The social adaptation services offered in Yakutia extend beyond housing. Veterans here have access to rehabilitation aids such as prosthetics, all-terrain wheelchairs, and clothing sets. These adaptations are tailored to help veterans lead an active lifestyle.
One veteran, Ilya Borisov, has found the adapted clothing particularly relevant for those who lead an active lifestyle after the SVO. He was inspired to take up sports, including wheelchair volleyball and shooting, after his return from the conflict. His participation in sports was further encouraged by the "Patriots of Russia" state fund, which announced the distribution of sportswear sets.
These sportswear sets include underwear and both winter and summer sportswear, ensuring that veterans can participate in sports comfortably, regardless of the season. The distribution of these sets was announced by Lily Golikova, the deputy head of the social support department of the Yakutia branch of the "Patriots of Russia" state fund.
The organization "Moscow-Canada" in Yakutia also plays a role in the veterans' adaptation. They provide special equipment and support for sports enthusiasts among the veterans.
For bedridden veterans, special baths and beds are provided as part of the housing adaptation services. This ensures that even those with mobility issues can maintain their hygiene and comfort.
Besides sportswear sets and rehabilitation aids, social adaptation services for veterans in Yakutia also include cars with manual controls, housing adaptation, and equipment for bathrooms, kitchens, smart homes, and workstations.
These initiatives aim to provide a smooth transition for veterans back into civilian life, ensuring they can lead active and fulfilling lives despite their injuries. The story of Ilya Borisov, who took third place in the Far Eastern Cup for volleyball, is a testament to the impact of these services. His journey serves as an inspiration for other veterans in Yakutia, demonstrating the potential for a active and fulfilling life post-SVO.
