Week focused on climate change mitigation strategies

Aschaffenburg, a partner of the Climate Adaptation Week (CAW), is set to host a series of informative and engaging events from September 15th to 19th. The week aims to raise awareness about climate change and its impact on the city, as well as showcase initiatives to make Aschaffenburg "fit for climate change."

On Tuesday, September 16th, at 5 - 6 pm, a digital lecture titled "Putting Climate and Health in the Spotlight!" will take place. This event, free of charge and requiring registration by September 16th at stadtab_klima.ticketmachine.de/de, will be presented by Antonia Pfeiffer, the Climate Adaptation Manager of the city of Aschaffenburg, and a speaker from Team Gesundheit GmbH.

The following day, on Wednesday, September 17th, from 5 - 6:30 pm, the Climate Tour through the city center of Aschaffenburg will take place. Organized by Antonia Pfeiffer herself, this free tour requires registration by September 17th at stadtab_klima.ticketmachine.de/de. The Climate Tour will provide valuable information about climate oases in the city area, challenges faced by green spaces and water bodies, and efforts to understand the city's climate and make it resilient to climate change.

The meeting point for the Climate Tour is the Fountain in front of the city library, Schlossplatz 2, 63739 Aschaffenburg. On the same day, at 7 - 8:30 PM, the Tree Walk in Damm will take place, a free guided tour with no registration required. The meeting point for this event is Seestraße 2, 63741 Aschaffenburg.

On Thursday, September 18, there will be a lecture titled "Green Buildings - Improving the Climate at Your Own Home." This hybrid event, taking place in person at the VHS and streamed simultaneously, will feature speakers Rebecca Landwehr from Bundesverband GebäudeGrün e. V. (BuGG) and Antonia Pfeiffer. The lecture will discuss the latest developments in construction and vegetation technology for roof and facade greening, as well as provide information about the Aschaffenburg funding program for building greening.

Finally, on Sunday, September 28, the Flood Information Mobile will be present at the Open House Day of the Garden and Cemetery Office. This mobile unit provides valuable information and tips on flood protection and prevention.
