World Gynecologic Oncology Day 2023 Focuses on Testing, Health, and Faith

World Gynecologic Oncology Day, observed annually on May 22, is dedicated to raising awareness about gynecological cancers. This year's event, the 5th edition, will focus on genetic and HPV testing, mental health, and healthy lifestyles. The Go Movement, a German organization, will lead activities in 2023, mobilizing churches and believers to share their faith and support those affected by these cancers.

World GO Day emphasizes overall health and a healthy lifestyle as key prevention strategies against gynecological cancers. This year's campaign will highlight the importance of genetic and HPV testing. Genetic testing can help assess risk and guide treatment decisions, and should be offered to all women with these cancers. HPV testing is crucial for preventing cancers caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV).

The event will also focus on mental health, regular physical activities, and healthy food. New indoor activities, including one inspired by taste, are planned to engage participants. Since 2019, over 80 organizations from 34 countries have joined World GO Day activities. This year, the Go Movement will lead these efforts, organizing a dedicated day called GO Day on Pentecost Saturday where millions commit to sharing their faith with at least one person.

World GO Day 2023 will discuss all five types of gynecological cancers - cervical, ovarian, uterine, vulvar, and vaginal - and provide support to women fighting these diseases. By promoting testing, mental health awareness, and healthy lifestyles, the event aims to educate and empower women worldwide.
